We would like to express our condolences to the family of Mrs. Leona Mott. Mrs. Mott, who passed away August 14th, taught at Tift Co Industrial High and later served for 14 years as a member of the Tift Co Board of Education. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Out of an abundance of caution, Charles Spencer Elementary was placed on a soft lockdown this afternoon due to a potential situation in the neighborhood around the school. System security personnel worked with local law enforcement to determine that there was no threat to the safety and security of the students or staff and the school resumed normal operations.
