All parents of students who participate in the Migrant Education Program for Tift County Schools are invited to attend a parent meeting on November 8th at 5:30pm at the Administrative Office. During the meeting, parents will learn more about the Migrant Education Program, meet the staff serving students in this program, and be given the opportunity to provide feedback. The information shared during the meeting will be in Spanish or translated into Spanish during the meeting. Light refreshments will also be provided. #4theT

On Wednesday G O Bailey hosted their PBIS Principal Party to celebrate students that made good choices the first 9 weeks. Students learned “How to be a Blue Devil” from middle and high school students and got to participate in cheer, band, show choir, JROTC, or robotics/technology! Sixth thru Eighth grade Math teachers from ESMS and NEMS have been meeting to plan and create unit assessments for the NEW Mathematics Standards. The Georgia Department of Education provided Math Units and Learning Plans for K-12 teachers. Teachers are working collaboratively across schools to create lesson plans and common assessments to correlate with the learning plans.

Dr. Baker read the book Stellaluna to Ms. Ray’s 1st grade class at Len Lastinger Elementary this morning. Several guest readers were in the building today as part of their Red Ribbon Week celebration. #4theT


Students at J T Reddick enjoyed interacting with animals in the petting zoo at their Fall Festival. The animals were provided by FFA students from both middle and high school. These students are looking forward to sharing this same type of experience at other elementary school events. The partnerships between schools help us meet our objective of strengthening relationships between and among staff and students as part of our Strategic Plan Goal Area 4: Blue Devil Culture. #4theT


Out of an abundance of caution, Charles Spencer Elementary was placed on a soft lockdown this morning due to a potential situation in the neighborhood around the school. System security personnel worked with local law enforcement to determine that there was no threat to the safety and security of the students or staff. The school has resumed normal operations. #4theT

At the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals Fall conference at Lake Lanier, J T Reddick Elementary was awarded the Bell Award for their Big Blue, Little Blue initiative. The Big Blue, Little Blue initiative is a program created by teachers who advise Beta Club. They allow 5th Beta Club members to read with the kindergarten and first grade students who are developing readers. It aids in our system initiative in Goal area 1: Student Success of having our students reading on grade level by 3rd grade. #4theT


At the Georgia Association of Elementary school principals Fall conference at Lake Lanier Matt Wilson Elementary School was awarded the Bell Award for their Successful Starts initiative. Successful Starts has been a huge program in our district that helps prepare our Kindergartner teachers for teaching strategies specifically for reading and writing. It aids in our system initiative in Goal area 1: Student Success of having our students reading on grade level by 3rd grade. #4theT


During the Georgia Association of Middle School Principal’s Fall conference awards ceremony, Mrs. Ariel Wilson was recognized as the Georgia National Outstanding Assistant Principal. Mrs. Wilson was also recognized during the National Awards ceremony as the state of Ga recipient this summer in National Harbor, Maryland. Thank you Mrs. Wilson for representing our district.
