Jim Byers, the principal at Omega Elementary, is a 1986 graduate of Tift County High School with 26 years of experience in education, including 6 years as a principal. His family includes his wife, Delene, and their children: Matt Davis and Shiree, Justin Byers and Jacob, Will Byers and Sheridan, and Cole Byers.
The most rewarding part of Mr. Byers' job is working directly with students and positively impacting their academic and personal growth. The most challenging aspect is balancing time with the diverse needs and expectations of supporting both students and staff.

Her family includes her husband, Jason, and their children, Zeke, Ethan, and Jordyn.

Spotlight on Patti Dean: Principal of Matt Wilson Elementary
Patti Dean, principal at Matt Wilson Elementary, is a 1988 graduate of Tift County High School. As the daughter of a military parent, Mrs. Dean experienced life all across the United States. Now in her 22nd year as an educator and second year as a principal, she finds great joy in watching students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Mrs. Dean's family includes her husband, Mark, their children John Mark and Kate Ellen, along with daughter-in-law Kelci, son-in-law Connor, and granddaughter Olivia.
For Mrs. Dean, the most rewarding part of her job is seeing students' excitement when they grasp new concepts and overcome challenges. Supporting the dedicated teachers and staff as they guide students also brings immense fulfillment. Balancing the diverse needs of students, staff, parents, and the district is a daily challenge, but Mrs. Dean is committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

Jennifer Porter, principal of Horizon Academy, is a 1996 graduate of Newcomerstown High School in Ohio. With 25 years of experience in education, Mrs. Porter is now in her fifth year as a principal. She is supported by her husband, Kevin, and their sons, Zachary and Michael.
For Mrs. Porter, the most rewarding aspect of her job is getting to know her students and building connections with each one. However, the most challenging part is making decisions that may not please everyone. Her goal is to ensure that everyone has a chance to be heard and understands how decisions are made, even when the choices are difficult.

Mrs. Johnson is supported by her loving family, which includes her husband, Kevious, and their three daughters, Kacie, Kyndal, and Klaire. Shae Tucker, a 1992 graduate of Tift County High School, has dedicated 28 years to education, with the last 4 years as the principal of G.O. Bailey Elementary School. Throughout her career as a teacher and administrator, Mrs. Tucker has been committed to building meaningful relationships with her faculty, staff, students, and their families. One of her unique experiences is teaching children of parents she once taught in high school, deepening her connection to the community.
Supported by her husband, Brady, and their children, Cam and Gabbi, Mrs. Tucker finds joy in fostering these relationships. However, her greatest challenge lies in serving a diverse population and effectively utilizing the school’s resources to support student learning, ensuring that all pieces of the puzzle fit together.
