Important Safety Update:
Following the events of last week, there have been several threats circulating on social media regarding schools. Please be assured that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), and local law enforcement have been closely monitoring these threats and have determined, at this time, that none of them are credible.
Someone copied a list from the Georgia Department of Education website, which includes all Title I schools in the state, and added the words βschool shooting.β This list is being circulated on social media. Tift County Schools were included in this list, along with hundreds of others. The GBI has urged everyone who sees threats of this nature on social media NOT TO SHARE OR REPOST THEM. Instead, please report these to local law enforcement or school officials.
Out of an abundance of caution, the staff at all of our schools are maintaining a heightened level of alert including increased visibility of our System Security Officers at all schools. The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate your cooperation and vigilance as we work together to keep our schools safe. #4theT

On September 3rd, teachers from Eighth Street Middle School (ESMS) and Northeast Middle School (NEMS) participated in a collaborative workday focused on developing and aligning common summative assessments. The sessions, as seen in the photos, were designed to ensure assessments are accurately created within the Illuminate data management platform. Middle school educators and administrators worked to align these assessments with state standards, curriculum maps, and the necessary level of rigor. This collaborative effort was aimed at refining the assessments, making necessary revisions to ensure they accurately measure student learning.

Tift County Schools extends our deepest condolences to the students, staff, and families affected by the tragedy at Apalachee High School today. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. π

π On September 3rd, our amazing Kindergarten through 5th-grade teachers participated in an 'Into Reading' training as part of their professional development day. This training is a crucial step in rolling out our new ELA core resource, ensuring our educators are equipped with the best tools to enhance student learning. π
The journey began in May with an introduction to the online platform and a "sneak peek" of the core resources. Since then, our teachers have engaged in βGetting Startedβ sessions and ongoing training within each elementary school. They'll continue to receive extensive support and training throughout the year.
We are so proud of our dedicated teachers who work tirelessly to provide the best education for our students! π #4theT
