This morning a BB gun was found in the backpack of a student at J T Reddick Elementary. The teacher notified school administrators who immediately contacted system security personnel. The issue was handled without incident. We urge all parents to take a moment to check your child's backpacks regularly for any items that may pose a safety risk. Your cooperation helps ensure the safety and security of our students and staff. #4theT

During the 2023-2024 school year, two Tift County teachers participated in Successful Start teacher training through Georgia State University. Additionally, five teachers completed Successful Start facilitator training. Today, we celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of these teachers. Through Successful Start, teachers undergo an intensive year of professional development focused on responsive teaching. Throughout the year, we have seen tremendous growth in our teachers and students. These teachers have earned college credit hours through Georgia State University and are now eligible for the Reading Endorsement. They are relentlessly pursuing a Successful Start in literacy for all Blue Devils students! #4theT #BlueChipTalent


Earlier today, the fire alarm at Charles Spencer Elementary was pulled by a student. When it was determined that there was no emergency and everyone was safe, the fire department was immediately notified that a response was not necessary.
Please take this opportunity to remind your child about the serious nature of emergency equipment like fire alarms and the consequences of misuse. The safety and security of our students and staff is of the utmost importance and we will address this incident accordingly. #4theT


Happy National Principals Day! Today, we celebrate the incredible work of the instructional leaders in our schools who play a crucial role in shaping our educational environment. From guiding curriculum to ensuring student safety, they do it all with dedication and care. #4theT

This morning, the front office at Tift County High School received a phone call to inform the school of a possible weapon in a studentβs vehicle on campus. The administration was immediately notified. System security personnel and local law enforcement investigated and found a rifle in the vehicle. The issue was handled without incident and has been turned over to local law enforcement. We would like to commend the caller for alerting the administration to this situation to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. #4theT

Out of an abundance of caution, J T Reddick Elementary and Matt Wilson Elementary were placed on a soft lockdown this morning due to a potential situation in the area near the schools. System security personnel worked with local law enforcement to determine that there was no threat to the safety and security of the students or staff. The schools resumed normal operations. #4theT

In light of the events today, and in the best interest of our students, there will be no GMAS testing at Len Lastinger tomorrow. This is for students at Len Lastinger ONLY, all other schools will remain on their regular testing schedule. Testing at Len Lastinger will resume on Thursday with 5th grade taking the Science portion and then all grades will take the 2nd portion of Math on Friday. If you have any questions, please contact your childβs teacher.


At approximately 2:55 pm a Len Lastinger Elementary student was involved in a pedestrian/vehicle accident during dismissal. The student was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center.
We would like to thank the community first responders and school staff at the scene for their quick response and attention to the situation.
Tifton Police Department and Georgia State Patrol are leading the investigation.
