This afternoon during dismissal at Len Lastinger Elementary there was an incident involving a student that required immediate medical attention. At this time Tift County Schools is on campus working with system security, law enforcement and emergency personnel. As more information becomes available, we will push out updates.

This morning a student at Northside Elementary reported to a teacher that another student was in possession of a weapon in their bookbag. The teacher immediately notified school administrators who contacted system security personnel and local law enforcement. It was determined that the student was in possession of a BB gun and the issue was handled without incident. We would like to commend the student for alerting the teacher to this situation to ensure the safety and security of other students and staff. #4theT
