This past weekend, all four Tift County show choirs competed at the Capital City Classic in Montgomery, AL, and the success was nothing short of incredible! While the results for our middle school choir, One Voice, weren’t what we’d hoped for, the hard work, dedication, and teamwork they showed is something to celebrate! At the high school level, our Men's show choir, Tiftosterone, made a clean sweep, winning Best Vocals, Best Visual Performance and Best Show Design and 1st place overall in the Men's division. Our Women's show choir, Ladies' Choice, had an exceptional weekend taking home Best Visual Performance, Best Show Design and 1st place overall in the Women's division. And finally, our Mixed show choir, Eighth Street Singing Company, earned Best Vocals and 2nd place overall in their division. We are incredibly proud of each of these talented groups for their hard work and outstanding success this weekend! #4theT

Kimberly Jacobs Onyeri, GATE Resource teacher at J.T. Reddick Elementary, was invited to join the Georgia Gifted Advisory Council/Task Force. The Gifted Advisory Council/Task Force is a combination of Georgia educators who are teachers, AP coordinators, gifted coordinators, etc. from across the state. The task force meets as a whole group four times a year to review the work of the working groups. During the meetings, there is a discussion of current gifted topics and a review of the projects the working groups are developing. Currently, there are three working groups: 1) Identification and Testing; 2) Talent Development; and 3) Resources and Service Delivery. The working group meetings occur between the task force meetings. Congratulations Mrs. Onyeri, we are proud that you will represent Tift County as part of the Gifted Advisory Council/Task Force for the next two years! #4theT

Weather Update
Based on the latest weather updates from the National Weather Service and after communication with our local Emergency Management Agency, Tift County Schools has made the decision that all schools will be in session on Tuesday January 21st, but will release 1 hour early. So, elementary schools will dismiss students at 1:45pm and middle and high schools will dismiss at 2:30pm. This decision is based on the current forecast that the temperatures will drop to freezing between 5 and 6pm on Tuesday evening creating icy conditions on our roads. The hour early dismissal ensures all students, staff, and drivers can be off the roads before the freezing temperatures occur. Additionally, all afterschool activities for Tuesday will be canceled to include practices. Throughout the afternoon and evening on Tuesday, we will continue to monitor the weather as well as road conditions to inform our decisions regarding school on Wednesday. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of our entire school community. Stay warm and safe!
