TIFTON, GA – The Tift County School System’s Teaching & Learning Department is pleased to announce the adoption of new instructional resources for middle and high school science courses, beginning with the 2026–2027 school year.
This adoption is part of the district’s strategic Instructional Resource Adoption Cycle and reflects a continued commitment to strengthening Tier 1 instruction, aligning to the Georgia Standards of Excellence, and providing students with engaging, high-quality learning experiences in science.
Following a comprehensive review process involving teacher representatives from each school, the district has selected the following resources:
Middle School (Grades 6–8): Savvas Experience Science
High School Courses: Savvas Experience Chemistry, Physical Science, and Physics
Biology: Miller & Levine Biology
Environmental Science: BioZone Environmental Science
These resources were chosen for their alignment to state standards, emphasis on inquiry-based learning, and ability to support student engagement through real-world applications and interactive content.
“Our goal is not just to adopt new materials, but to ensure they are implemented effectively in every classroom,” said Jennifer Howell, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. “By investing in both resources and professional learning, we are strengthening the overall instructional experience for our students while ensuring our teachers have the needed resources to effectively teach the state content standards.”
“This adoption represents an important step forward in strengthening science instruction across our middle and high schools,” said Dr. Djana Goss, Secondary Curriculum Director. “These resources will support teachers in delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while engaging students in meaningful, real-world scientific thinking.
“The new science core resources are an exciting addition for our district. At Tift County High School, the shared framework will strengthen our teachers’ ability to collaborate, deepen opportunities for both students and teachers to learn, and ultimately help all students achieve at high levels. They promote equitable access by ensuring every classroom has consistent, high-quality instruction and aligned supports to meet the needs of every learner. In addition, the built-in digital and print resources will help keep parents informed and connected to what their students are learning,” said Instructional Coach Amber Spivey
“We are deeply appreciative of the Tift County Board of Education for their continued commitment to investing in high-quality instructional resources,” said Jennifer Howell, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. “Their support ensures that every student, in every classroom, has access to the tools and experiences needed to succeed. This investment reflects a shared belief in the power of strong instruction and the importance of equipping our teachers with the resources they need to make the greatest impact.”
The adoption of these science resources reflects Tift County Schools’ broader commitment to:
Increasing student achievement in science
Providing equitable access to high-quality instructional materials
Preparing students for college, careers, and future STEM opportunities
Tift County Schools remains dedicated to continuous improvement and ensuring that all students have access to rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned instruction.
