GA MTSS Cohort

TIFTON, GA — Tift County Schools has been selected by the Georgia Department of Education’s Office of Whole Child Supports to participate in the Georgia Multi-Tiered System of Supports (GaMTSS) Cohort, a statewide initiative designed to strengthen systems that support the academic, behavioral, and wellbeing needs of students.

As a participating district, Tift County Schools will receive professional learning, technical assistance, and coaching support over the next three years to help build capacity for implementing and sustaining effective MTSS practices across schools.

The GaMTSS framework focuses on identifying and responding to students’ needs through layered supports, ensuring that all students receive the instruction and interventions necessary to succeed. Participation in the cohort will allow district and school teams to deepen their implementation of these supports while collaborating with state specialists and other participating districts in the design and development of tools, processes, and resources to support MTSS implementation in Tift.

“This opportunity aligns with our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of every student we serve,” said Superintendent Natalie Gore. “Through participation in the GaMTSS cohort, our teams will receive valuable training and coaching that will help strengthen the systems and practices already in place across our schools.”

A GaMTSS Program Specialist/Coach from the Georgia Department of Education and a School Climate Support Specialist from Coastal Plains RESA will work directly with Tift County Schools to provide guidance and support throughout the process. Christy Jones, GaMTSS Program Specialist/Coach, and Scott Haskins, CP RESA Support Specialist, will serve as the district’s primary contacts and will work with district leaders to schedule coaching sessions and support implementation efforts. Participation in the GaMTSS cohort supports Tift County Schools’ Strategic Plan goal of Achieving Academic Excellence for All, ensuring that systems and instructional practices are in place to meet the varied learning needs of students across the district.

Tift County Schools looks forward to partnering with the Georgia Department of Education and our RESA partners through this initiative and continuing its work to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
