Tift County’s School Nutrition Program represented Georgia School Nutrition Association (GSNA) District 2 with participants in the GSNA State Culinary Competition. Before moving to the state level, these ladies competed locally for the chance to represent this district at the state competition. Audrey Dixon’s Peach Crumble Biscuit competed in the Whole Grain Dessert category, Shakia Rance’s Hot Honey Chicken Tender Taco competed in the Lunch Entree category and Tammy Wells’ Black Bean & Corn Salad competed in the Lunch Side Dish category. Out of an abundance of caution, J T Reddick Elementary was placed on a soft lockdown due to a situation that occurred in the neighborhood around the school. System security personnel worked with local law enforcement to determine that there was no threat to the safety and security of the students or staff and the school resumed normal operations. #4theT

UPDATE: Colquitt EMC has informed us that the power should be back on by 9am at the latest. There is currently a power outage at Annie Belle Clark Elementary. Colquitt EMC has notified us that they hope to have it restored soon. School will proceed normally. #4theT

Tift County High School has been named as a 2024 Advance Placement (AP) Honor School by State School Superintendent, Richard Woods. The school met the qualifications in two of eight categories based on results of the 2023 AP courses and exams. AP Access and Support Schools : Schools with at least 30% of AP exams taken by students who identified as African American and/or Hispanic (minimum of 16 students) and 30% of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
