Out of an abundance of caution, Charles Spencer Elementary was placed on a soft lockdown this morning due to a potential situation in the neighborhood around the school. System security personnel worked with local law enforcement to determine that there was no threat to the safety and security of the students or staff. The school has resumed normal operations. #4theT

ππ A special thank you to our incredible Tift County Maintenance Staff! This team has worked unbelievably hard today to get Brodie Field set up for Graduation tonight. This is what working #4theT looks like! ππͺβ¨

In order for tonight's graduation ceremony to be a dignified event for our graduates, we have a few reminders.:
--Balloons, noise makers, etc. are NOT allowed inside the stadium.
--Hold your applause until the end of each row. This will allow all guests to hear their graduate's name when it is called.
Thank you!

Can't make it to Brodie Field tonight? Join us at 6:45 pm for the live stream of the TCHS Class of 2024 graduation ceremony! πβ¨π

We have compiled the results from the survey sent to graduating seniors. We received responses from 70% of the students. The survey options were as follows: Option 1- to hold graduation on Saturday at UGA Conference Center; and Option 2 - to hold graduation on Thursday evening at Brodie Field. Option 1 received 87 votes (23.39%), and Option 2 received 285 votes (76.61%).
As a result, we will hold the 2024 graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 16th at Brodie Field. The processional will begin at 6:45pm. Gates to the stadium will open at 6:00pm. All guests are asked to be seated by 6:40pm, prior to the processional.
There is a mandatory practice for all graduates tomorrow morning at 9:00am at Brodie Field. Any student who does not attend the mandatory practice will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

Some of this yearβs graduates have expressed a desire to be able to walk across Brodie Field instead of holding the ceremony inside on Saturday as announced. We are seeking your input for this yearβs graduation ceremony to ensure we have a broader representation of the student bodyβs desires.
Please understand the rationale for making the decision to move graduation to the UGA Conference Center. We have had multiple discussions with the Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service. Current weather predictions have rain beginning on Friday afternoon and continuing through the afternoon on Saturday. In addition to the rain being a consideration, we also recognize that families have out of town guests who were planning to join for the festivities on Saturday. Changing the day of the ceremony could impact families in ways we could not predict, and we recognize graduation is a point of celebration for students as well as families.
A survey has been sent out to all seniors. Each graduating senior gets one vote, votes from non graduates will be disregarded. You must be logged into your school Google account to respond. Please select from one of the two choices below. Due to the urgency in making this decision, voting will close at 6:45pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024

After consulting with the local Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service and due to the expected rainfall on Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th, the decision has been made to hold this yearβs Graduation Ceremony at the UGA Conference Center. While we know that this is not the ideal situation, we feel that it is in the best interest of our graduates and their families and allows us to provide a quality ceremony for our students.
The processional will begin at 8:45 am. The ceremony can be viewed via live stream at: https://youtube.com/live/QGHAT5SjSok?feature=share.
Due to limited seating inside the auditorium, each graduate will be allowed 4 guests. Tickets will be distributed to the graduates at their mandatory practice on Thursday morning. Guests will not be allowed into the UGA Conference Center without a ticket.
Gates at the Conference Center will open at 7:30 am. Due to how seating will be arranged, all guests must be seated in the auditorium no later than 8:40 am BEFORE the processional begins. This will ensure the processional is not disrupted due to late arrivals. The main entrance will be locked and anyone who is not seated at this time will be directed to enter through the north entrance to be seated in the designated overflow area to view the ceremony via live stream.
Please remember that this ceremony is about the graduates. To ensure all students get βtheir momentβ to have their name called out and be seen by their loved ones, no noise makers, confetti, balloons, signs, etc. are allowed inside the auditorium. Audience members are asked to hold their cheering until the time allotted for applause at the end of each section.
Additional information, as it is available, will be posted at: https://tchs.tiftschools.com/o/tchs/page/graduation-information
