Tifton, GA — Tift County High School softball student-athletes, coaches, and fans will soon enjoy a variety of facility improvements as upgrades to the softball complex have been completed or are scheduled for completion prior to the start of the upcoming season. The enhancements are designed to improve safety, functionality, and the overall experience for everyone who utilizes the facility.
The project includes upgraded LED field lighting, a new kneewall surrounding portions of the facility, a covered bullpen area, expanded concrete walkways and gathering spaces, a new press box, and updated protective netting. The project follows the installation of a new digital scoreboard, which was completed during the 2026 softball season. These enhancements continue the district’s commitment to providing high-quality athletic facilities that support student success both on and off the field.
"The success of our softball program is a direct reflection of the dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and community," said Chris Martin, Athletic Director for Tift County Schools. "These improvements will provide a safer, more functional, and more enjoyable experience for everyone who utilizes the facility. From the upgraded lighting and netting to the new press box and covered bullpen, each addition helps create an environment that supports excellence and allows our athletes to compete at the highest level."
The new LED lighting system will improve field visibility and energy efficiency, while updated netting and the addition of a kneewall enhance safety for players and spectators. The recently installed digital scoreboard provides improved visibility and expanded capabilities for game management and fan engagement.
Additional concrete areas improve accessibility and circulation throughout the complex while creating more usable space for spectators. The covered bullpen provides protection from the elements for players during practices and games, while the new press box offers upgraded accommodations for game operations, media coverage, and event management.
“These improvements reflect our commitment to providing first-class facilities for our student-athletes,” Martin added. “These upgrades ensure our players, coaches, and fans have a facility that supports this program for years to come.”
The facility improvements are part of Tift County Schools’ ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance athletic facilities across the district while creating positive experiences for students and the community.
