This morning a member of the administrative staff at Tift County High School was alerted by a student of a social media post involving a student on campus with a weapon. System security personnel and local law enforcement responded and it was determined that the student was in possession of a BB Gun. The issue was handled without incident. We would like to commend the student for alerting the administration to this situation to ensure the safety and security of other students and staff. #4theT

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jerry Baker will assume the role of Interim Principal of Tift County High School beginning Thursday, January 25, 2024. During his time with Tift County Schools, Dr. Baker has proven his dedication to this system and community. He has demonstrated a vast knowledge of organizational systems and their processes and a commitment to providing a safe learning environment for our students.
Dr. Baker believes that together we must step up to the challenges we face and that we must be committed to the educational experiences of students at all grade levels. He is proud of the students at TCHS and their desire to learn and is dedicated to providing the leadership necessary in this position.
Dr. Baker will remain in this position throughout the remainder of the school year or until such time that a permanent replacement is hired for this position. The search for this position will begin immediately. We expect the vacancy to be posted later this week.
We are very fortunate to have a community member with such a passion for supporting our community as well as the staff and students at Tift County High School to ensure student success. Letβs join together in welcoming Dr. Baker to this position.


The Tift County Blue Devil Robotics Team won the top award at the Vex IQ robotics tournament in Covington this weekend. This qualifies them to participate in the state event held in McDonough on Feb 11th. #4theT

Mrs. Gore spent her first official day visiting schools and meeting students and staff. She started the day with bus drivers and Transportation staff then visited Annie Belle Clark, Charles Spencer, J T Reddick, Matt Wilson, Omega and Tift County High School. She will continue school visits tomorrow. #4theT


We are expecting very cold temperatures across our area over the next several days. We want to make sure all of our students have clothing to keep them warm. If your child is in need of a coat or warm clothing, please contact the social worker at your child's school. Stay Warm!


Letter to the Tift County Community from Superintendent Natalie Gore.


At tonightβs meeting of the Tift County Board of Education, the board took action to place TCHS Principal, Dr. Chad Stone, on paid administrative leave for 30 days. The board took further action to not renew Dr. Stoneβs contract. This decision came as a result of new information as part of an ongoing investigation.
The Board of Education is tasked with making decisions in the best interest of the students of Tift County Schools. District leadership will work to name a principal as soon as possible to ensure continuity of service to the students of Tift County High School.

Due to school being canceled on Tuesday, January 9th, the Work Session has been moved to Thursday, January 11th. The work session will begin at 6:00pm and will immediately be followed by the board meeting. #4theT


After meeting with Tift County EMA officials and out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to close all Tift County Schools on Tuesday, January 9th for all students and employees. #4theT


System administrators will meet with Tift County EMA for a weather briefing at 3:00pm this afternoon. If it is determined that there is a need to make a change to the school calendar we will notify everyone as soon as possible. #4theT


During a December 29, 2023 special called meeting of the Board of Education, Natalie Gore was approved as Superintendent of Tift County Schools. Mrs. Gore will begin meeting with district administrators next week and will assume full time duties on Tuesday, January 16th.
