At last night’s Board of Education work session, we started a new tradition centered on what matters most—our students!
Each month, a different school will provide a brief student inspiration to open the meeting. These presentations and performances will highlight the talents, achievements and voices of our students while showcasing the many ways they learn, lead and excel throughout Tift County Schools.
Kason Horner, president of the TCHS Senior Class, presented our first student inspiration, which included the opening prayer and thoughtful remarks.
Thank you, Kason, for helping us begin this new tradition and starting our meeting with a focus on the students of Tift County!

The 2026–2027 Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council held its first meeting of the year today!
Council members had an opportunity to get to know one another, learn about the roles and responsibilities of serving on the council, and provide feedback on a new menu item that will be served in the cafeteria at all schools next week.
Students shared their perspectives with Mrs. Howell through a “Keep, Change, Create” activity:
✅ KEEP: What is working well for students that we should protect?
🔄 CHANGE: What makes school harder, less engaging, or less effective than it needs to be?
💡 CREATE: What is missing that would make Tift County Schools better for students?
We look forward to these students representing their peers, sharing the student perspective, and helping us continue to improve throughout the year!

Parrish Construction hosted a Topping Out Ceremony, giving everyone working on the project the opportunity to sign the final structural beam before it was lifted and secured into place.
This milestone represents the dedication and hard work of so many people who are helping bring this new facility to life. We are excited to continue watching the progress and look forward to the day our students and staff walk through its doors!
