What Are High School Pathways?

High school pathways are structured programs of study that help students explore their interests and prepare for future careers or college opportunities. Each pathway connects classroom learning with real-world skills, giving students a chance to focus on specific areas-such as health sciences, engineering, business, arts, or technology-while still completing their core academic requirements.

By choosing a pathway, students can:

Explore potential careers and discover what they're passionate about.

Gain hands-on experience through projects, internships, or specialized courses.

Earn valuable credentials or college credits before graduation.

Build a strong foundation for success after high school, whether in college, technical training, or the workforce.

Pathways don't "lock" students into one career-they're designed to help students learn, explore, and make informed choices about their futures.

Tift County High School Criminal Justice students had an exciting opportunity as Captain Ellington, SFC Kelley, and Officer Harrison visited to share their expertise in public safety and highway law enforcement.

Students participated in an informative presentation on the recruitment process and the responsibilities of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) officers. They explored topics such as commercial motor vehicle safety compliance, driver and hazardous materials regulations, the use of scales to check for size and weight violations, and investigative procedures for traffic crashes involving commercial vehicles.

The officers also discussed the Physical Fitness Assessment, employment qualifications, career paths, specialty units, and job benefits within CVE.

As a special recognition for their participation, Leah McMurphy was presented with the Georgia Commercial Vehicle Enforcement patch, while Matthew Fincher, Pal Patel, and Bryseyda Gutierrez received customized Law Enforcement Challenge Coins.

Our students learned a tremendous amount from this visit—thank you to our guests for investing in their education!

🌟 Tift County CTI Shines at the Georgia CTI State Leadership Conference! 🌟

Tift County CTI students had a wonderful time at the Georgia CTI Fall Leadership Conference in Columbus. They attended a College and Transition Fair and took part in leadership sessions on Courage, Communication, and Challenging the Impossible. Students won gift cards and competed in Academic Quiz Bowls.

We enjoyed a nice dinner and dance where we met new friends from high schools across the state and made great memories together as a chapter. The food was awesome and we heard from some talented young entertainers.🤩

Students also had a blast at the Coca-Cola Space Center enjoying a planetarium show, space simulator, and rocket construction. It was the best yet and we are excited for what comes next. 🚀

A special thank you to Mrs. Sexton, Ms. Walker, and Mr. Acree for all your help in making this possible. You all are the best! 😊 #raisingthebar #ChallengeTheImpossible #CTAEdelivers #4theT

Last May, Mrs. Beth Rehberg, Teacher of the Visually Impaired and Assistive Technology Coordinator, and Dr. Melissa Busbin were awarded $3,000 through the Skoot Dimon Healing Arts Chair Grant from the Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence.
Today, we’re thrilled to show what that grant is now making possible. 💙
Using these funds, we have launched a hands-on project to create wireless adaptive toys for students with disabilities across the district. These toys support accessibility, independence, and joyful play, and they are being built right here in our classrooms.
This initiative blends:
🛠️ STEM skills
♿ Assistive technology
💙 Service-based learning
🚀 Real-world engineering with real impact
We are incredibly grateful to the Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence and the Skoot Dimon Healing Arts Chair for believing in innovative, student-driven projects that make our schools more accessible for all learners.

Guided by our Sports Nutrition students, the elementary students explored MyPlate nutrition, practiced sorting foods into the correct food groups, and then put their new knowledge to work by building their own personal pizzas using a variety of ingredients.
It was a fun and educational day filled with creativity, teamwork, and delicious learning! 🎉 #OpportunityDay #TCHSNutrition #sportsmedicine #myplate #HandsOnLearning #CTAEdelivers #4theT
