Press Release

Tift County Schools is pleased to announce that Tift County High School achieved a four-year graduation rate of 89.20% for the Class of 2026, surpassing Georgia’s statewide rate of 88.5%, another all-time high for the state. TCHS also achieved a five-year adjusted graduation rate of 90.41%.

The graduation rates reflect the continued efforts of students, teachers, administrators, counselors, support staff, families, and community partners working together to help students remain on track and successfully complete high school.

“Graduation represents much more than a number,” said Jennifer Howell, Interim Superintendent of Tift County Schools. “Behind every percentage point are students who worked toward an important milestone and employees and families who supported them along the way. We are proud of our graduates and grateful to the teachers, counselors, administrators, support staff, and families who remained committed to helping our students cross the finish line.”

The 89.20% four-year graduation rate represents students who completed graduation requirements within four years, while the 90.41% five-year adjusted graduation rate recognizes students who may have needed additional time to successfully earn a high school diploma. The four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate is the number of students who graduate in four years with a regular high school diploma divided by the number of students who form the adjusted cohort for the graduating class. From the beginning of ninth grade, students who are entering that grade for the first time form a cohort that is subsequently “adjusted” by adding any students who transfer into the cohort during the next four years and subtracting any students who transfer out. Students who drop-out remain in a four-year adjusted cohort.

Tift County High School Principal Jennifer Johnson credited the achievement to the collective commitment of students and the adults who support them throughout their high school experience.

“We are extremely proud of our graduates and the determination they demonstrated in reaching this important milestone,” Johnson said. “This achievement is also a reflection of the teachers, counselors, administrators, support staff, and families who work every day to ensure our students have the support and opportunities they need to be successful. At Tift County High School, we will continue to focus on knowing where each student is, identifying barriers early, and doing everything we can to help every student reach graduation.”
