TIFTON, GA — The Tift County Board of Education unanimously approved Jennifer Howell as Interim Superintendent of Tift County Schools during its September 10 meeting. Howell brings more than 20 years of experience in public education and a career devoted entirely to serving the students, employees and families of Tift County.
Howell began her career with Tift County Schools in 2005 as a third-grade teacher at G.O. Bailey Primary School. She later served as Intermediate Literacy Coordinator at Matt Wilson Elementary School, Assistant Principal at J.T. Reddick Elementary School and Principal of Matt Wilson Elementary School.
After joining the district administrative team, Howell served as Chief Academic Officer before being named Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. Her career reflects a unique breadth of experience, having served Tift County Schools at every level—from the classroom to school and district leadership.
As Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Howell provided leadership across key areas of the district, including curriculum and instruction, student services, assessment and accountability, professional learning, leadership development, strategic planning and continuous school improvement. In this role, she worked closely with district and school leaders to strengthen instructional practices, use data to guide decision-making, support educators and improve outcomes for students throughout Tift County Schools.

I look forward to working alongside them, building on the progress taking place across our district and keeping students at the center of every decision we make.”
Howell holds an Education Specialist degree in Leadership from Valdosta State University and Tier II Educational Leadership certification. Her educational background also includes graduate and undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Education.
Throughout her career, Howell has remained deeply committed to Tift County Schools and the Tift County community. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that strong schools are built through relationships, high expectations, effective instruction and a shared commitment to doing what is best for students.
As Interim Superintendent, Howell will guide the district through this transition while maintaining momentum on key priorities, supporting schools and employees, and advancing the district’s work to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
Howell and her husband, Kyle, are proud to call Tift County home. They have one son, Jackson. Her professional and personal roots in the community further strengthen her commitment to the students, families, employees and future of Tift County Schools.
