Newkirk Receives TCFEE Award

On Thursday, April 4th Len Lastinger received a special visit from several Len Lastinger retirees with exciting news to share.

The Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence (TCFEE) Brumby Legacy Award was created to honor Mike & Moppy Brumby for all their Support of TCFEE.  Pope, The Real Estate Company is the sponsor of the $500 gift given in Honor of the Brumby Legacy Award Winner to the Tift County School of their choice.  As the inaugural winner of the Brumby Legacy Award, Betty Newkirk was given the opportunity to select a Tift County school to receive $500 to expand Excellence in Education.  Len Lastinger holds a special place in Mrs Newkirk's heart after spending much of her career there, serving as a classroom Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal (1973 to 1999).  Additionally, her twin daughters Kristen and Krystal gained their love of books and passion for reading in the Len Lastinger media center.  As pictured, Mrs. Betty Cromer and Mrs. Ann Herzog played a significant part in encouraging students in their reading journey, so Mrs. Newkirk wanted them to share in this Special Gift to Len Lastinger's media center.
