Dr. Chad Stone, 2023 GASSP Principal of the Year

Tift County High School Principal, Dr. Chad Stone, received a special announcement today during what he thought was a called faculty meeting about spring testing. The staff at TCHS gathered in the Performing Arts Center and soon the stage curtains opened and the TCHS band started playing the Tift County fight song. Dr. Stone quickly realized that this wasn’t just a staff meeting. He was then greeted by his family, system administrative staff, and other special guests and an announcement that he has been selected as the 2023 Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP) Principal of the Year.

The award was presented by GASSP staff members Alan Long, Wanda Law, Art Wheaton and Kerensa Wing. Joining them was Leanne McCall, principal at Lowndes High School, who was the 2022 recipient of this honor.

Dr. Stone introduced his wife (Kristy), their children (Ellie, Mollie, and Brody), and his father (Dr. Darnell Stone) and thanked each of them for their part they played in him receiving this award. He also thanked Superintendent, Adam Hathaway, for giving him the opportunity to have what he referred to as “his dream job” as Principal at Tift County High School.

Following the presentation, in true TCHS fashion, Dr. Stone was showered in confetti.

Congratulations Dr. Stone! Having you as part of our Blue Devil Family makes us Better Today Than Yesterday!
