ACCESS is a state-mandated test for students who are English language learners and is designed to measure a student's social and academic proficiency in English. The test also meets federal requirements related to the evaluation of K-12 English learners on their progress in learning to speak English. Students in Tift County complete the assessment in both online and paper-pencil settings. Once students achieve a state-determined level of mastery on the ACCESS test, they no longer receive additional services related to English language instruction; however, these students are monitored in terms of academic progress and do receive additional services if they begin to experience academic problems related to deficiencies in the English language.
The testing window for the 2018 - 2019 ACCESS is January 16th - March 8th.
