New Test to Replace CRCT and EOCT

The Georgia Department of Education will implement a new testing system, the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (Georgia Milestones) during the 2014-2015 academic year. The new system will replace both the CRCT and the EOCT.

Four students at Tift County High School were honored Tuesday, May 13, in the Eighth Annual Special Hearts Graduation. Special Hearts is a special education program at TCHS. At Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting, the Tift County Board of Education approved the calendar for the 2014-2015 school year. The calendar was changed from its draft format to allow staff to return in August and be finished by Memorial Day. The calendar allows for 186 staff work days (two more paid days than the current year) and 179 instructional days for students (three more than last year). The first day of school for students is August 7.

Tift County Schools are joining in a statewide celebration this week to salute the efforts of local school board members. The week of March 17-21, 2014, has been proclaimed School Board Appreciation Week in Georgia. The weeklong observance calls attention to the contributions of local boards of education.
