DECISION ABOUT SCHOOL CLOSURE FOR WEATHER

We are sure that each of our students (and many of us adults) are excited about the possibility of snow in South Georgia. Please know we are actively monitoring weather reports and working with our local authorities to decide if school closure will be the safest decision for our staff and students. A decision will be made by our superintendent by 2 p.m. Tuesday about whether or not we will have school on Wednesday. We will post the decision here and on Facebook, send call-out messages to parents listed in infinite Campus and will let local media outlets know.

THURSDAY CLOSURE FOR STUDENTS

From Superintendent Patrick Atwater: After driving many miles, visiting several bus transfer zones, and multiple consultations with EMA, city and county offices..., and surrounding superintendents, the decision has been made to cancel school for students tomorrow, Jan. 30, 2014. The current weather prediction calls for a longer than normal length of time below freezing and when combined with damp conditions could produce hazardous conditions for school bus transportation early tomorrow morning. All faculty and staff should report to work at 10 a.m. Thursday.
