4th Graders Present Shhh! We're Writing the Constitution

Audience members were treated to a wonderful performance of the musical play Shhh! We're Writing the Constitution presented by 4th graders at Matt Wilson Elementary. The play traces the history behind the creation of the Constitution of the United States.
4th grade students study the creation of the government of the United States. This year's play was a creative way to reinforce those concepts.
School News

Lindy Busbin (6th Grade) and Madison Honeycutt (5th Grade) showed off their writing talents in the Tift County Writing Fair. Madison and Lindy submitted the winning entries for the fifth and sixth grade. Their entries will now be submitted to the Coastal Plains RESA for the RESA-wide judging and to Atlanta for the state-wide title. Congratulations Lindy and Madison!

Pairs of volunteers from Target delighted Matt Wilson students by reading Dr. Seuss' Happy Birthday to You! throughout the day on March 2. Each year on Dr. Seuss' birthday, schools and libraries across the coutry celebrate Read Across America, an event designed to promote reading. Target is a national partner of Read Across America.-

Terrance Searcy, a fifth grade student at Matt Wilson Elementary School, won the county wide Spelling Bee today. The Bee was held on the morning of February 12 at the Tift County High School Performing Arts Center. Terrance competed against 19 other students from grades 4 through 8. Terrance will represent Tift County in the District Spelling Bee that will be held in Moultrie.
Report Card Highlights
- Met Adequate Yearly Progress criteria in 11 out of 11 areas.
- Nearly 88% of 6th graders met or exceeded standards on the CRCT English Language Arts.
