Georgia's Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) includes an Accountability Profile for every public school and school system in the state. The Accountability Profile is composed of:

  1. An absolute performance determination, based on Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
  2. A Performance Index based on annual growth in academic achievement as measured by statewide assessments.
  3. Performance Highlights which provide recognition for schools and school systems based on academic related indicators.

A. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)

AYP under No Child Left Behind is more stringent than AYP under previous laws. AYP now requires schools to meet criteria in three areas: Test Participation (for both Mathematics and Reading/English Language Arts), Academic Performance (for both Mathematics and Reading/English Language Arts), and a Second Indicator, which for Charles Spencer is Attendance Rate.

School did not meet AYP
School met criteria in 7 out of 9 areas
Non-Title I School
Improvement Status: ADEQ_DNM

The absentee rate must be less than 15%, or must have improved over the previous year.

B. Performance Index

The Performance Index includes two components for each public school that detail the Percentage of Students Meeting and Exceeding Standards and the gain or loss of that percentage from the previous year.

The Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) awards those schools with the Highest Percentage of Students Meeting and Exceeding Standards and those with the Greatest Gain in Percentage of Students Meeting and Exceeding Standards.

Criteria were developed comparing the most recent two years of Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) (grades 1-8 in reading, English/language arts, math, social studies, and science) and/or the Georgia High School Graduation Test (grade 11 first time test takers - English/language arts, math, science, and social studies). Criteria were based on Full Academic Year (FAY) students.

  • The percentage of Students Meeting and Exceeding Standards in the current year is 90.45%.
  • This percentage reflects a Loss over the prior year of 0.8%.
  • This change was at or above 17.39% of the high schools in Georgia.

C. Performance Highlights

This information reflects the 2008-2009 State Report Cards data which includes data for all students, not just Full Academic Year (FAY) students. Performance Highlights list the academic measurements for this school that meet or exceed 80%.
