Reading Recovery & Early Intervention Program
Reading recovery (RR) is a research-based intervention program implemented at Northside Primary School. This program is a short term, early intervention program designed to serve the lowest achieving readers in the first-grade. In the Reading Recovery program, children receive individual thirty-minute lessons from a specially trained teacher over a period of 12 to 20 weeks. Children are selected for the Reading Recovery program based on teacher judgment and measures of assessment from Clay’s Observation Survey of Early Literacy Achievement. Reading Recovery students participate in an instructional program that is characterized by individual instruction and accelerated learning.
The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is designed to serve students who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining their academic grade level. EIP provides additional instruction, time, and resources to help students perform on grade level. Once students achieve grade level expectations, they may exit the program.
