Tift County Schools are fortunate to participate in a Parent Involvement Program which houses a parent resource center and a parent liaison at each primary school.  Liaisons play a major part in the support system for parents and bridge the gap between the home and school environment.

Our parent liaison is Wanda Webb. She is at Northside every Monday. You may contact her at her email address.

What services does the parent liaison offer?

• They maintain a parent resource center at each school with multi-media materials available for check-out to parents.
• They provide workshops on effective teaching techniques for parents and training on topics of interest to the parents of Tift County. (See List of Workshops)
• They work closely with teachers and parents to meet the needs of our students by providing individual learning packets specific to the skills being taught in each classroom.
• They provide information concerning other agencies and programs available to the students of Tift County.

Studies have documented that regardless of the economic, ethnic, or cultural background of the family, parent involvement in a child’s education is a major factor in determining success in school.

Students with involved parents, no matter what their background, are morel likely to:

• Earn higher grades and test scores
• Enroll in higher-level programs
• Be promoted and earn credits
• Adapt well to school and attend regularly
• Have better social skills and behavior
• Graduate and go on to higher education
