The media center at Northside Primary welcomes students, teachers, and parents to participate in its programs.  We have wonderful books for pleasure reading as well as for researching subjects.
Each week, children come with their classes to the library for story time or library lessons.  However, students also come individually or in small groups to selects books.  Magazines and reference books are available to students for in-library usage.  Any book that is available for check-out may be renewed. 

Fines are only added to a student’s record if they lose or excessively damage a book.  Students who do not pay fines or return books will have their privileges restricted.

Our Accelerated Reader Program is growing.  We use this program to motivate our students to read.  This program is for pleasure only.  The students may take quizzes on the books that they read and earn prizes as they move up to the different point levels.  Students are also recognized once a week on the morning announcements upon achieving various point levels.

We also take pride in being a part of the Reading Capital of the World and the Summer AR program.  Each summer, students can take part in the summer reading program by checking out books from the local public library.  Books that have a green dot on them are AR books.  By going to the AR center located at 216 Tift Avenue and taking tests, the students earn money for their school libraries.  If the students earn 5 points during the summer, they will be invited to an ice cream/popcorn party after school begins.
