CRCT pep rally

Third grade students were treated to a pep rally on Wednesday, April 8th to get pumped up for CRCT. Third grade teachers and paras as well as resource teachers performed the Cha Cha Slider for students. CRCT testing begins next Thursday!

Len Lastinger Talent Show

Len Lastinger Talent Show

Len Lastinger presented its annual Relay For Life Talent Show on Thursday, March 26th. Participants danced, sang and tumbled their hearts out in front of a packed lunchroom. Len Lastinger raised $1,355 for Relay for Life. A special guest appearance by Mr. Reed was the highlight of the show. Special thanks to Little Caesar's Pizza for donations to help with concessions!

Body Zone a HUGE Success

Body Zone, an educational program presented by GATE students, took place on Friday, February 27. Students took a trip inside the human body, viewed slides on a microscope of skin, and received a detailed accounrt of many of the body's main organs. Proceeds from Body Zone were donated to the Soup Kitchen. To see photos click below.

Second Grade Students Receive Healthy Visitor

Second grade students were treated to a visit from dental hygienist Mary Ellen Bowen from Dr. Clifford Walker's office. Mrs. Bowen talked with students about the importance of good dental hygiene in honor of dental health month.

GATE students took a trip to Tift Regional Medical Center where they learned about the human body. Students were able to touch different organs such as the brain, kidneys and lungs. The GATE program at Len Lastinger is lead by Ms. Dana Gibson.

GATE students were treated to a visit by local pediatrician Dr. Tibisay Villolobos. Dr. V spoke to students about different organs of the body and what their functions are. GATE students are preparing to put on BODY ZONE for the school. BODY ZONE is an educational program about the human body.

Kindergarten Students Receive First Hand Experience of Presidential Inauguration

Tracie Turner, Kerrigan Turners mother presented a slide show of her recent trip to the historical Inauguration of Barrack Obama, 1st African American President, January 20, 2009 to her child's kindergarten class.  At the end of the presentation Kerrigan and her mother presented each child with their own bookmark commemorating this historic event.  One of our own Dr. Kim Ezekiel principal of Len Lastinger had the opportunity to attend the inauguration in Washington, D.C. also.  She gave 1st hand accounts of her trip to many classes.  Len Lastinger students had an opportunity to watch and hear the sights and sounds of inauguration day on TV as our new president was sworn in. All around our school there was a buzz of excitement!  This was followed by many discussions and writing activities.  A special time was enjoyed by all students and faculty celebrating a new year and a new beginning in leadership filled with hope.
