Millionaire's Club

The Library Media Program at Charles Spencer encourages and supports reading. The Millionaire’s Club provides an opportunity for students to achieve the English Language Arts standard (ELA4R2, ELA5R2, ELA6RC1) that states that students read at least twenty-five books or book equivalents or approximately 1,000,000 words each year. A word count report is generated every week using Accelerated Reader to keep teachers and students abreast of how many words each student has read. At the end of every nine weeks students and staff who are on track to reach The Millionaire’s Club are invited to the PRIDE program and given an award badge. As students and staff reach one million words, their names are added to The Millionaire’s Club Bulletin Board.
