Tift County Schools offers tuition free summer school programs. Classes typically begin within a week after the regular school year closes and operate for approximately twenty half days. See the Summer School Schedule for exact dates, times and locations. (a link to current schedule) We offer two types of instruction: Review Classes and Preview Classes.
Based upon teacher recommendation, we serve students in grades 3, 5 and 8 who fail to meet Georgia Performance Standards according to the results of Georgia’s Criterion Reference Competency Tests (CRCT) in reading and/or math. Summer school provides these students intensive, targeted assistance in the area(s) identified as below standard. To extend the maximum opportunities to master skills, students will engage in small group, individual and computer based instruction. During the final week of summer school students in grades 3, 5 and 8 are provided the opportunity to retake the CRCT. Schools will notify parents of these test results prior to the start of the next school year.
