School Improvement Plan

Goal 1 (Reading Performance)

The students will use a variety of strategies to gain meaning from a variety of texts.

The students will show progression in their instructional reading level using leveled text to achieve grade level performance.

  • Classroom assessment of reading performance across the curriculum.
  • Literacy Collaborative Coaching/Training.
  • Results of Literacy Collaborative Fall Testing.
  • Observation of student performance & analysis of “Computer Curriculum Corporation” Gains Reports.
  • Review of students’ reading performance in completing school level assessments on mandated standardized tests. (CRCT  & 3rd Grade ITBS)
  • Analysis of Criterion Referenced Test results. (Language Arts)
  • Conferences with administrators, teachers, and parents to obtain their perspectives on the extent to which students are committed to creating quality work.
  • Monitoring of the Accelerated Reader Program.

Goal 2 (problem Solving)

The Students will show improvement in the area of problem solving skills as measured by criterion-referenced assessments annually (CRCT).

  • Classroom assessment (Saxon) of mathematical thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Observation of student performance & analysis of “Computer Curriculum Corporation” Gains Reports.
  • Review of students’ mathematical thinking and reasoning skills in completing school level assessments on mandated standardized tests. (CRCT & 3rd Grade ITBS)
  • Conferences with administrators, teachers, and parents to obtain their perspectives on the students’ ability to apply mathematical thinking and reasoning skills.

Goal 3 (Personal and Social Responsibility)

The students will take responsibility for personal actions and show respect for self, others, authority and their environment.

  • Analysis of the number of discipline referrals.
  • Counselors' reports and records on classroom guidance lessons.
  • Analysis of the number and type of student referrals to the school counselor.
  • School wide observations of student behavior.
  • Structured assemblies with administrators, teachers, parents and students on behavior.

This plan addresses the need to strengthen and expand the design of instructional strategies to challenge and move our students forward as well as foster student responsibility. Faculty, staff, parents, students, and community partners have agreed on these goals. We will evaluate each of these goals annually to report the progress made on each goal. We will take the necessary steps to correct any problems so that we can continue to help our students make progress.
