G. O. Bailey At-A-Glance

Built in 1973, G. O. Bailey Primary School has an enrollment of 500 students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. An addition to the school was completed in 1987, and a second addition was opened in the fall of 2005 which included six classrooms, an art/music room and a gymnasium. The expansion allowed for the development of a computer lab which is used by all students.

The school has 30 classrooms as well as resource classrooms for English Language Learners, Reading Recovery, Early Intervention Program, Special Education, and the Parent Liaison programs.

G.O. Bailey has 42 full time and 2 part-time certified teachers, 20 paraprofessionals, a clinic aide, 2 office staff, a principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, and media specialist.

An active P.T.O. supports the staff, students, and educational programs with annual fundraising projects. The P.T.O. has funded Artist-In-Residence programs and campus beautification projects.

After school programs include 21st Century Enrichment Program, Extended Day for 3rd grade, and Kid’s Advocacy Coalition (KAC) afterschool care.

Community support is provided to G. O. Bailey through the Foster Grandparent Program, Tift County High School Teacher Apprentices, education students from ABAC, and Valdosta State University, and classroom volunteers from our Partners in Education.

The school is named for renowned Tift county citizen, Glen Owen Bailey, who served as Tift County Schools Superintendent for 27 years.
