G. O. Bailey offers a general music program which is directed by a certified music specialist. Music class is available to all children, Kindergarten through Third grade. All students receive 30 minutes of music each week.

Students are expected to participate in the activities and make use of the small amount of time to accomplish many objectives.

The core materials for this class are the music series by MacMillan/McGraw-Hill. Many other supplemental materials, seasonal songs, and games are used as well. We focus on steady beat, rhythm, and melody.

Music is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their different gifts and talents. Music gives each child the opportunity to have fun, develop a positive attitude towards themselves, and gain an appreciation for music.

It is our goal at G. O. Bailey to see that each child develops:

• an appreciation of the arts and a love of music
• the ability to participate in the creative processes of music
• an understanding of musical symbols, terms, and basic music theory
