Jump Rope for Heart

G. O. Bailey had a successful Jump Rope for Heart on February 15, 2008.  We raised over $4200.  All the students participated in fighting obesity, heart disease and stroke by being very aerobic.  About 200 students went a step further and helped raise money for American Heart Association.  Some of the students received “thank you” gifts for a certain amount raised.  Ethan Hester, first grader, was our top money raiser with $260.00.  This was his second year being Top Money Raiser for Jump Rope For Heart.

Each grade level came to PE for 1 hour.  While there, they rotated to different stations that allowed them to keep active and have fun.  The stations included long ropes, short ropes,  monster traks (walking on giant feet), riding on scooters, a heart lesson on oxygen and non-oxygen blood, walking on stepping stones, hula hooping, and sack racing.  At the end of the event, the students were given popcorn and water as a snack.  We had lots of parents of come and volunteer.  A great big Thank you to the parents for taking the time to come enjoy being active with your child.  A big Thank you to the G. O. Bailey paraprofessionals for helping run the 8 different stations.  Another big Thank you to Mr. John Milano for the photos, helping set up the popcorn machine and water cooler tables and run the stations too.
